Flashback Friday: Louis Saha
?
He was nicknamed as Petit Louis because he always played with older players at the time. He originally wanted to be a goalkeeper but finished upfront, thanks to his dad who insisted on playing as a striker. At age 14, he joined the famous French academy of Clairefontaine with the likes of Anelka, Christanval, Gallas, Proment, Henry to mention just a few of the famous names there. After 3 years of training, he later joined his first professional team FC Metz in 1997. Saha made his debut with Robert Pires, Fred Meyrieu and Sylvain Kastendeuch and celebrated by scoring a goal.
In 1999, he enjoyed a 6 months loan spell with Newcastle United and watched Manchester United destroy Europe by winning the Treble. This however also included watching them win the FA cup against his loaned side Newcastle United in the old Wembley stadium. He then came back to France for a year before joining Jean Tigana for an unforgettable love story with Fulham FC, that was to last three and half years. In 2004 Saha left for Manchester United where, not long after joining the club. He won his first cap and first goal for my country against Belgium.
After four and half years, he had to leave Manchester United due to many injury problems but found a great club in Everton FC who helped him put my career back on track. On the last day of the 2012 January transfer window moved back to London to join Tottenham Hotspur FC.
