QPR stun defending champions Manchester City at Lotus Road to get a point with a superb display only to be outdone by the brilliance of Sergio Aguero.
City was pegged back by the more direct and long ball tactics of QPR from the word go. The visitors were being harassed by the Rs. In the 9th minute Joe Hart gifted Charlie Austin the ball after miss-hitting his free-kick and the Englishman scored from the resultant opportunity but only to be disallowed as the ball hadn’t been live when Austin got his first touch on the ball.
Finally the hosts got their lead when Charlie Austin converted the spot kick. City was rattled with this early onslaught by Rs. But Sergio Aguero came to the rescue as he controversially scored the equalizer. It looked as if he had handled the ball in the buildup to the goal but referee seemed to have his opinion.
It was complete end to end stuff for the entire duration as both the teams threw caution to the wind. Joey Barton came in the second half as a sub for injured Sandro and the game got much livelier with his introduction. City started to bombard QPR’s post and the hosts’ too returned the favor to the champions.
Charlie Austin again haunted Citizens as he struck a powerful shot which was duly turned into his own net by Martin Demichellis. City looked down and out as they were clueless regarding breaching the stubborn QPR defense. But once again the Super Kun came to their rescue as his brilliant individual effort saved them the blushes.
