Gareth Bale wins Welsh Player of the Year for a record fourth time

Wales and Real Madrid superstar Gareth Bale has won the Welsh player of the Year, which was announced at a gala hosted by Football Association of Wales in Cardiff last night.

All the Welsh internationals are in the town as they are preparing for their latest Euro 2016 qualifier against Bosnia-Herzegovina this week. The former Spurs player attended the event and personally accepted the award.

Bale is the first player to win the accolade four times. The previous record was three times which was jointly held by Wales’s legends Mark Hughes and John Hartson.

Along with Bale, young leftback Ben Davies won the Young Player of The Year after having an impressive season at Swansea last year. Ashley Williams won the Welsh Club player of the year for a record fourth time on the trot.
