International interest for Indian Football Team

'Ye diwali, football wali' yes with ISL putting India on the world footballing map, a number of high profile managers have applied for the the Indian national football team job. With Dutchman Wim Koevermans gone, the AIFF have been looking to appoint a manager for the national side.

Wim Koevermans who had a tough time managing the national side as the results weren't as good as expected the, the AIFF believe appointing a recognized international manager is of the highest priority.

There have been a lot of names which have been going around in the media, with even Zico Arthur being linked. But one name which has been confirmed is the current North East United and former New Zealand coach Ricki Herbet.

A football website has reported that Herbert has written to the AIFF general secretary Kushal Das expressing his interest to be the next national team coach.

"Herbert has applied for the job of Indian national team coach," a source told the website.
