Just when we thought Real Madrid was going easy on their spending, BAM! Comes a blockbuster, James Rodriguez, in the form of £63 million buy from Monaco.

The 23-year-old was pivotal in Colombia reaching the Quarter-Finals of the recently concluded FIFA World Cup in Brazil. He was one of the best prospects in the tournament as he scorched the stage on fire.

He won the much-deserved Golden Boot by scoring 6 goals and facilitating 2 more.He has already proved the kind of threat he can be to opposition’s defense with his quick and incisive offensive plays.

This latest addition to Real Madrid will serve to increase the threat to even the best defensive line-ups of Europe. With the imminent departure of Angel Di Maria on the cards, Rodriguez will fit in perfectly into manager Carlo Ancelotti’s plans.

We here will dissect how the Real Madrid is likely to line-up for the next season will look with all the exciting buys they have secured.

Los Blancos boss Carlo Ancelotti has most preferred using a 4-3-3 formation last season with it yielding some rather outstanding results as they won the Champions League and Copa Del Rey is spectacular fashion.

Lets first look out how Ancelotti’s new buys have performed in the World circuit. Toni Kroos was phenomenal in Germany winning the World Cup as he scored 2 goals and provided 4 assists and provided the performance of his life. With Xabi Alonso on the wrong side of ageing, the German will replace the veteran. Keylor Navas, the goalkeeper, the Costa Rican hero and ofcourse, the young super talent James Rodriguez.

Here’s how the line-up would look like with the newly acquired buys. The manager will look to use a 4-2-3-1 formation this time around as this looks more progressive and gives all the room the attack needs without compromising on defense.

Casillas will most likely not be the first choice goalkeeper with the acquiring of Keylor Navos who comes off after a World class performance in Brazil.

The Centre-back roles will be firmly guarded by Ramos and Pepe with Varane as a backup if he still remains at the club despite interest from other top clubs in Europe.

The left-back role will be held by Marcelo/Coentrao while the right-back position will be headed by either Arbeloa or Carvajal as both have been very good as defenders.

Coming to the midfield, veteran Xabi Alonso will be down the pecking order with Kroos’ arrival while Sami Khedira looks set to exit the European Champions. He will be joined by Luka Modric in repealing the opposition defense while creating attacking opportunities at the same time.

The attack will be spear-headed as usual with Ballor d’Or winner Cristiano Ronaldo in left-wing and Gareth Bale on the right as the staggering youngster James Rodriguez will take the No.10 role with Frenchman Karim Benzema completing the line-up as the deep-lying striker.
