Juventus down Real in 1st leg of the Semis

Juventus currently hold a goal’s lead over Real Madrid ahead of their clash in Bernabeau. Ex Real Madrid player Alvaro Morata scored in the 9th minute to give Juventus the lead only to be cancelled out by un-marked Ronaldo who headed the ball into the net when James Rodriguez found him with a lethal cross inside the box. Dani Carvajal’s risky tackle on Carlos Tevez inside the box gave them the penalty which Tevez scored, sending Casillas in the wrong direction. This was his 50th goal for the Italian league leaders.

Juventus exploited the gaps in Madrid’s defence line caused by poor coordination while Madrid slowed the tempo of the game to ensure that Juventus couldn’t make a quick attacking game play. Both teams have a great attacking line up, however it was defensive errors which cost both the sides. Alvaro Morata scored when Casillas deflected a Carlos Tevez shot straight at his feet. Ronaldo then scored the equalizer with a brilliant header; his run went un-marked which is why he was in the one on one situation against Buffon for the header. Dani Carvajal’s foul on Tevez gave Juventus the penalty. Juventus’s Carlos Tevez capitalized on that opportunity giving them the one goal lead against Madrid when they play them next in Santiago Bernabeau. However, Madrid have a silver lining to look forward to as they scored a crucial away goal against the Italians.

Real Mardid haven’t scored in their last eight visits to Italy while Juventus look forward to their first final since 2003. Juventus made 27 passes in the build up for the first goal which is record in this season’s champions league. Ronaldo has been in fine form and has scored his 54th goal of the season against Juventus.
