Klopp to take a break?
Jurgen Klopp says he will take a break from football after stepping down as Borussia Dortmund manager.
"After seven intense and emotional years, I think it's a good idea to let the numerous memories settle in before I take on a new challenge with my team refreshed and motivated," said Klopp.
"I'm going to take a break until further notice," he added.
“I have said that when I had the feeling that I was no longer the right coach for this extraordinary club, then I would say that. I have questioned myself all the time. And I have realised in the past few weeks and days that although I was not sure that I am no longer the right person, I could also not answer the question with 'Yes.” He further added.
Klopp has won two league titles and the German Cup in seven years as Dortmund’s Coach, he also took his side to the 2013 Champions League finals where Dortmund lost to Bayern Munich. The 47-year-old has been linked to Liverpool and Manchester City jobs since he previously stated that he is open to managing Premier League sides. However, the manager stated that would like to take a break, thus putting an end to these rumours.
“[Leaving] has nothing to do with our current sporting situation. We suffered from players announcing their departures too late in the past few years, and we were no longer able to react, and came under pressure.” The 47 year old coach said upon being asked whether his decision is based on Dortmund’s current season.
"I did not want that pressure to mount. All three of us [Zorc and Watzke] made this decision. Aki Watzke and Michael Zorc will find a great solution for the club.” He further said. "I am not out of this world. I have already secured three season tickets. The club is bigger than us all. And always will be. The club will never forget, and I am thankful that I was allowed to be a part of it."
