Liverpool are set to sign, Italian bad boy Mario Balotelli for a reported £16 million from Milan after both sides reportedly agreed a fee. As reported on the Milan’s official website yesterday, Mario has said his goodbyes and emptied his locker at the Italian headquarters.

The player’s agent, Mino Raiola, flew to England last night to negotiate the contract with last season’s Premier League runners-up. It seems personal terms have been agreed and the striker is supposedly set to sign a 5 year contract for the Mersey side club with a “Behavioural Clause” imposed in it. The striker will have his medical tomorrow according to media reports.

Following a departure of Luis Saurez to Barcelona, Rodgers has been looking for an additional striker in recent weeks. Liverpool had expressed an interest in AS Monaco striker Radamel Falcao and former Chelsea goalscorer Samuel Eto’o.

It’s a strange situation, with Rodgers first denying Liverpool’s interest in the Italian; saying the club won’t be looking to sign Mario Balotelli, a week later Liverpool look set to buy Balotelli. Could well be a Board’s signing. The Italian who is never too far away from controversy could well be the Marquee name to rejuvenate side, after the loss of their star striker Suarez. Balotelli, could be a hit or miss signing, but at £16 million he’s worth a try!
