Liverpool vs West Ham – Preview

Brendan Rodgers’ Liverpool welcomes high-flying West Ham United as Barclays Premier League action returns after cup games. Liverpool are slowly finding their feet defensively as they look to build momentum for a top four finish.

West Ham under Sam Allerdyce this season has surprised one and all with their performances. They trounced Liverpool at Boleyn Ground earlier in the season and have also won against the likes of Manchester City. They are currently seventh in the table just three points off Arsenal in the fifth place.

Team News

Liverpool will be delighted as their star striker Daniel Sturridge will return to first team football after long injury lay off. Liverpool’s forwards have horribly misfired as all of them have flopped. There are no new injuries to be reported although Mahamdou Sakho is a doubt for Saturday’s game who will undergo a late fitness test.

West Ham will be without their summer signing Cheikhou Kouyate who is representing his country if AFCON. This means, Alex Song will play at the base of the midfield diamond. There are injury doubts over defenders Joey O’Brien and James Collins both of them will undergo a late fitness test.

Probable Lineups

Liverpool - Mignolet; Can, Skrtel, Sakho; Markovic, Henderson, Lucas, Moreno; Lallana, Coutinho, Sterling

West Ham - Adrian; Jenkinson, Reid, Tomkins, Cresswell; Song, Nolan, Noble; Downing; Carroll, Sakho
