The disgraced Uruguay striker has a deal agreed upon him by the Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers and FC Barcelona that would make the Merseyside club richer by £75 million.
Luis Suarez will sign a 5-year-contract with Barcelona after a medical as he is set to unveiled by the end of next week.
The Uruguayan international will join the likes of Lionel Messi and Neymar Jr. and will strengthen the deteriorated Nou Camp who, for the first time, failed to win any trophy last season.
That was a definitive wake-up call for the Catalans to look ahead and bag more players to keep the team afloat.
However, he will still face the four-month ban that would keep him out of first 10 or so matches of the La Liga season.
Boss Brendan Rodgers showed that they lost a quality player in Suarez as he said: “The club have done all they can over a sustained period of time to try to keep Luis at Liverpool.
“It is with great reluctance and following lengthy discussions we have eventually agreed to his wishes to move to Spain for new experiences and challenges.”
But he has pledged that the departure of ‘joint top scorer in Europe last season’ is a sign of better things to come as he is confident about improving the squad and making them better.
“I am confident we will improve the team further and will be stronger for this coming season. If there is one thing the history of this great club teaches us, it is that Liverpool is bigger than any individual.
“I hope our supporters continue to dream and believe that we are moving forward and with continued improvement and progression, together we will bring the success we all crave and deserve,” concluded the Irishman.
It remains to be seen who will replace Suarez as Liverpool has a history of
finding the right kind of striker to fit their line-up.
