Last season was a season of disappointments for Malaga. After losing star player Isco and the departure manager Manuel Pellegrini meant, Los Boquerones struggled to stay competitive and a finished low in the league, just above the relegation zone. Bilbao on the other hand had a brilliant season, as the finished 4th and qualified for the champions league qualifiers.

Captain Malaga, Duda, says Coach Skuatnya is better prepared this season than last season. Although, Skuantnya doesn’t not have star players like the earlier seasons, but is stronger because he has a combination of solid blend off senior and junior players at his disposal.

Duda: "We have worked hard during pre-season, prepare ourselves to be ready to start the La Liga. We have done a good preparation for the start of competition and against Athletic Bilbao is a beautiful match to unlock capital next game"

Malaga had a good preseason outing, with 6 wins and a draw from 7 games played.

On the other hand Athletic Bilbao are looking to juggle between prioritizing games, as they prepare to take on Napoli at San Memes in the second leg of the Champions league qualifiers. Having already played a game this midweek, Bilbao looked sharp and well prepared to take on Malaga. Anything less than 3 points will be a disappointing rest for the Basques club.

Prediction: Malaga 0-2 Bilbao

Venue: La Rosaleda
