Man City vs Bayern Munich Match Preview

Manchester City welcome table toppers Bayern Munich at Etihad with a view to keep their Champions League hopes alive in a must win encounter for the hosts. Bayern have nothing at stake as they have already qualified to the next round and are at the top of the table.

Overview

Manchester City’s struggles in Europe continue as they still have not settled with their fellow European elites. Meanwhile Bayern continue to march on and look for their second title in three years.

In the reverse leg Bayern edged past a resolute City with a 1-0 win at the Allianz Arena courtesy of a Jerome Boateng winner late in the second half.

Team News

The hosts will be without the services of Yaya Toure and Fernandinho as both of them are suspended from this game. Also, they have doubts over the fitness of Edin Dzeko and David Silva while Vincent Kompany may return to the starting line up.

Bayern may rest several of their key first team players and we may see return of Bastian Schweinsteiger, who has been named in the travelling squad by the Munich club. Phillip Lahm is also out of the match as he is sidelined with an ankle injury till January.
