The Reds stole another player from fellow Premier League club Southampton’s kitty as they signed their star defender Dejan Lovren.

The Croatian cost the Reds £20 million which pundits are considering an overpriced buy. This deal also makes Lovren the most expensive defender in Liverpool history.

He was Brendan Rodger’s prime target this transfer season. He was signed a five-year-contract with the Anfield club that will keep him at Merseyside till 2019.

He spoke after his unveiling to liverpoolfc.com and said: “'It's a dream come true. I'm happy and glad to be here. I'm proud and can't wait to start. I know we have millions and millions of supporters - Liverpool is more than a club.

“After I played at Anfield last season, I said to myself: "One day I hope I'll be able to play here for Liverpool". The fans will know from the first minute that I'm a player that will give 100 per cent on the pitch.”

“I'm a player that will give 100 per cent and I want to show that to the supporters because they deserve to see players who give 100 per cent. I know it is going to be something special to play in front of the fans at Anfield and I can't wait”, continued the 25-year-old.

With the signing Lovren joins his former teammates Lambert and Lallana in the Liverpool line-up.
