Nicholas Anelka joined ISL side Mumbai City FC on a short term deal. This was amidst the speculation that he was on the verge of signing for Serie A side Fiorentina.
The Ex-Chelsea player's agent has cleared the speculation by setting the record straight while talking to Viola News.
Garini told Violanews.com: "Fiorentina never made
contact with Anelka.
"Anelka signed a deal with Mumbai city FC and so there is no chance of a U-turn.
"The contract will expire on December 25th, I have it, so there are no problems. We have never had contacts with Viola, so the news that said this is false."
Instead he said they were in talks with another Italian club in Palermo but the deal failed to materialize due to player's wage demands.
"Anelka asked for 1.5 million euros each season - a salary that is out of reach in Italy. We had contacts with Palermo, but we didn't go forward for this."
These are stark revelations by the agent and in process quashing the rumors that surrounded Anelka's move to India.
