Christian Bentekke to Liverpool!

Liverpool are set to continue their summer splurge as they target Aston Villa's - Christian Benteke to lead the line for their upcoming season.

The 24-year-old Belgium international will become the second most expensive player in Liverpool’s history as soon as he agrees personal terms for the move to Liverpool.

Benteke who has a £32.5m release clause in his contract scored 13 goals in his 29 appearances last season. Benteke will join Firmino, Danny Ings, Nathaniel Clyne and James Milner.

Former Liverpool legend, Didi Hamann believes signing Christian Benteke will prove to be a shrewd investment as they look to complete a £32.5million deal for the Aston Villa striker.

Liverpool Echo a trusted source when it comes to news for Merseyside teams report:

"The Reds have triggered Benteke's release clause and hope he will fly out to join the squad on their current tour of the Far East and Australia.

A decision on whether he flies to Adelaide or Kuala Lumpur will only be taken onceLiverpool chief executive IanAyre, who is in Brisbane with the squad, has concluded talks with Villa counterpart Tom Fox over the payment structure.

Benteke is likely to have his medical on Merseyside before linking up with his new team-mates."
