One Billion Viewers for the Women's World Cup
Eight sides will make their World Cup debuts, including Cameroon and Cote d' Ivoire as the on going FIFA Women's World Cup in Canada is expected to reach one billion viewers around the world.
With the new edition of the Women's world which will eight new sides, and an overall count of 24 teams is expected to be a mega hit with locals very excited about it.
More than 400m viewers tuned to the Women's World Cup in Germany four years ago, and tournament organiser FIFA hopes that increased interest from broadcasters and a captive North American audience can boost ratings in order to help the sport grow.
According to FIFA, the tournament is due to be broadcast in 187 territories.
More than 920,000 tickets have already been sold for the tournament, while the prize fund is $15m (£10m) with the winners earning $2m, up 50% from four years ago.
The opening match against China in Edmonton has sold more than 52,000 tickets, making it the best attended match in Canadian soccer history, but the Canadian Soccer Association officials said only a third of group games had sold out.
