Player of the Weekend

The Premier League table did not see any major movement this weekend. Chelsea gained back 2 points in the lead, after losing the 9 point lead that they had over City. There were good performers by some players, but what probably stood out the most was the performance by Arsenal's star midfielder Alexis Sanchez.

Sanchez has been an engine ever since joining the Gunners, and has shown tireless play over the season. His prowess in attack is visible through the number of goals he has netted for the Gunners and for a while was probably their only player who played at the level Arsenal is expected to play at, single-handedly pulling the Gunners into pursuit of the top 4.

This weekend saw him create a goal and score 2 of his own (a treat for FPL addicts who have him in their team!). He constantly troubled the Stoke defense and ran between defenders, something Arsenal had been lacking for a while now. His first goal in the game was particularly brilliant, making a run past one and then scoring from between 3 Stoke defenders.

His second goal was a well taken free kick, slightly assisted by the wall. But all in all he is Football Mind's player of the weekend in the Barclays premier League.

A great buy for Arsenal, and now with Ozil back, we will have a look at what assault the Gunners launch on a Champions League spot.
