Real Madrid legend Raul has joined North American Soccer League side New York Cosmos on a ‘multi-year’ deal. The 37 year old will be player cum youth academy adviser to the New York club who play in second tier of American football.

Former Schalke man was elated to join the club.

"Everyone throughout the soccer world knows the Cosmos name and the legacy of the players that played for this team previously," he said.

"They helped establish soccer in America and I'm honoured to follow in their footsteps.

"I believe in this club's vision and I'm excited to be a part of it."

Raul is highest scorer in UEFA Champions League on 71 goals, two more than Lionel Messi and one more than fellow Galactico Cristiano Ronaldo.
