Roberto Carlos may join Delhi Dynamos!

Brazil football legend Roberto Carlos may join Delhi Dynamos for ISL’s second edition. Carlos, who was the coach of Turkish side Akhisar Belediyespor last season, is no longer contracted with any club. However, if rumours are to be believed, Carlos is expected to replace Harm van Veldhoven as the Dynamos coach.

Roberto Carlos had an offer from Qatar club Al-Arabi and was rumoured to have signed for them. But the club's website denied the same on June 2nd implying that the Brazil great is free.

"We have approached many reputed names but nothing is certain as of now," Gaurav Tikoo, general manager, brands, DEN Network, told MAIL TODAY.

Roberto Carlos is player who has made his way in the “FIFA 100 list of the world’s greatest living players”. He is a deadball specialist, and has scored some extraordinary free kick goals and other goals as well. The defender’s most famous moment came at the 1997 Tournoi de France when he curled in a 38-yard free kick against France. The goal is considered by many as the best ever free kick in modern times.

The former Brazilian star has won four La Ligas, three Champions League titles with Real Madrid as well as the 2002 FIFA World cup and two Copa America for Brazil. He has won many individual awards as well, he won the FIFA World Player of the Year in 1997 (Silver Award), UEFA Defender of the Year in 2002 and 2003, Ballon d’Or in 2002, Golden Foot in 2008 amongst others.

Roberto Carlos’s addition to the ISL will definitely give the league and Indian football more recognition as well as make football in India bigger.
