Real Madrid 5-0 Athletic Bilbao – Match Report.

Real Madrid: Casillas, Carvajal, Pepe, Ramos (Varane), Marcelo, Modric, Kroos (Illarramendi), Rodriguez, Bale, Benzema (Isco), Ronaldo.

Athletic Bilbao: Iraizoz, Laporte, Benat, Iturraspe, De Marcos, Susaeta (López Cabrera), M. Rico, Gurpegi, Muniain (Etxeita), Guillermo (Gómez), Balenziaga.

Cristiano Ronaldo continued in rich vein of form as he scored his 3rd hat trick in 4 games en route thrashing Athletic Bilbao 5-0 at Santiago Bernabeu.

Real Madrid after a shaky start to the season has hit the top gear, which has seen them score over 20 goals in their last 5 games. Cristiano Ronaldo has scored 17 goals in 11 games as he looks menacing.

Real Madrid opened their scoring in 2nd minute as Ronaldo headed the ball past Athletic’s Iraizoz on a Gareth Bale cross. There were crazy celebrations as Ronaldo, James and Marcelo broke into a jig after scoring.

Karim Benzema with a brace completed the rout as he added two goals in each half to his tally. He was assisted by Ronaldo for his second goal.

Athletic were shell-shocked and hardly threatened Madrid’s defense with managing only a single shot on target in the 90 minutes.

Ronaldo completed his hat trick in a freakish fashion as the ball nicked his elbow before going in the net. This was Ronaldo’s 22nd La Liga hat trick, which saw him level on the most number of hat tricks by any player in La Liga. The Portuguese is on par with Liga and Real Madrid greats Alfredo Di Stefano and Telmo Zarra, who held the record for over 50 years.

MOTM - Isn't it obvious?
