Schalke 04 vs Real Madrid: Preview

We are well and into the special Champions league night after yesterday's first leg games between Chelsea, Psg, Bayern and Shaktar. The second round of matches see's German side Schalke take on Real Madrid today

.

Last season champions, take on Schalke in the same round, just like when they went on to win the La Decima. But there are substantial changes to both the sides with Champions league winning coach Roberto Di Matteo the coach of Schalke.

Schalke 04:

Schalke side who qualified second from the same group as of Chelsea, where handed their heaviest group face defeat when the Blues drubbed them 5-0.

But it is all forgotten with, the Germans making it to the round of 16 this term too. Unlucky for them they face giants Real Madrid again. Coming to the tactical aspect, Di Matteo has switched the style of play from 4-2-3-1 to 3-5-2 making the maximum utility of his good defenders at his disposal.

But when it comes to attacking options his hands are tied with injures. Julian Draxler Ralf Fahrmann, Jefferson Farfan, Sead Kolasinac, Leon Goretzka and Chinedu Obasi are all out injured.

Predicted Line-up (3-5-2): Wellenreuther, Howedes, Matip, Nastasic, Uchida, Fuchs, Kirchoff, Hoger Barnetta, Moting, Huntelaar.

Real Madrid:

On the other hand, the defending Champions have had their share of bad results. A drubbing on the hands of rivals Atletico hasn't gone down well.

But still leading the table and one of the favorites to win the trophy, Real Madrid would be happy to take on Schalke.

Carlo is expected to play Toni Kroos with Isco and Illaramendi partnering him in the midfield. With Bale, Benzema and Ronaldo forming the attacking trio.

Predicted Line-up (4-3-3): Casillas, Carvajal, Pepe, Varane, Marcelo, Kroos, Illaramendi, Isco, Bale, Benzema, Ronaldo.

Prediction:

Schalke 0-4 Real Madrid
