Chelsea striker Diego Costa has been handed a three game ban by the FA after the regulatory commission reviewed the TV footage which was missed by referee Michael Oliver during the game.
The striker who walked of the legs of Liverpool player Emre Can has been backed by former players and pundits. Gary Neville, Theirry Henry and Michael Owen have all have backed Costa saying with just a naughty challenge by him.
But FA have termed this as a challenge worth a ban. The statement read:
"The Chelsea forward had denied the charge in relation to an on-field incident involving Liverpool’s Emre Can which occurred in the 12th minute of the League Cup semi-final second leg at Stamford Bridge on Tuesday 27 January 2015."
Diego Costa ban starts with today's game against City, missing Aston Villa and Everton in the process.
The incident was not seen by the match officials but caught on video.
