Fernando Torres who moved out on loan this summer has words of praise for the team wearing the red and black stripes. The striker moved to Milan on a two year loan deal which ended his three torrid years at the West London club for whom he scored just 20 goals from 110 outings.
Chelsea who acquired the services of Diego Costa, Loic Remy and brought back their legend Didier Drogba, left no space for the misfiring striker who had struggled to score in his three years at Stamford Bridge.
Torres was quoted saying:
"Milan came in for
me even during my time at Atletico. Demetrio Albertini also
encouraged me to play in Italy.
“And it is as if fate had expected me to be at San Siro.
“The coming together was only delayed, because the Rossoneri
have always appreciated me and finally I have arrived here.”
Torres on his disappointment of not winning a trophy with his boyhood club:
“The fact that I have not won anything with Atletico is a weight
that I will always carry in my heart, but I remain proud to have
worn and defended that shirt.
“Why did I leave? Because I was progressing and going in one
direction and the club were going in another. I needed something
more. But, the Calderon is my only home.”
