Aston Villa’s legend Stiliyan Petrov has returned to the club after almost two years. This time though he has returned in coaching capacity and not as a player. Petrov was Villa’s captain before he was forced to retire from the game in 2013.
Manager Tim Sherwood has highlighted his importance in club and has said that he wants him to be with him till the time he is at this club.
"I would never bring him in to be a mascot. He's got a very technical and gifted mind, I want him in here as quick as possible," said Sherwood.
"Stan will always have a place at this football club while I'm manager."
Petrov was diagnosed with acute leukaemia; he had six fruitful years at Villa Park where he was a fan favourite and undisputed leader. This is certainly a major boost for the struggling Villa side who are currently 17th in the league and are just a point away from the drop zone.
