He was diagnosed with a racing heart at the age of 15 for which he had to undergo surgery where the problematic part was cauterized. If not, he would have had to give up sports.
At the age of 14, although he was popular with other students in his school, he threw a chair at his teacher for which he was expelled from School. This however, worked out well for him because after that he focused all his attention on football.
His nickname as a kid was “cry-baby” as he used to cry when he passed the ball and his friends did not score. Well, we could associate that attitude with some of his antics today, can we not?!
Ronaldo owes his first break to his friend Albert Fantrau. At a match where the person scoring a higher number of goals would get a break with Sporting Lisbon, his friend gifted him the last goal inspite of having gone around the keeper and having an open goal in front of him. Albert passed the ball to Ronaldo to score when both of them had scored a goal each. Later he was asked and he told Ronaldo that he thought Ronaldo was a better player than him and deserved the chance. A few years later his (Albert’s) football career was over and he was unemployed, but still owned a lavish house and a sports car – thanks to his friend!
According to Castrol’s analysis when Ronaldo jumps he generates us to 5 times the power of a cheetah when it jumps in full flight! It is attributed to the fact that when he works out he lifts weights in a single workout equal to more than 15 small cars!
