The 2 most touted transfers of the previous season were Neymar Jr. to Barcelona and Gareth Bale to Real Madrid. With the latter becoming the most expensive transfer in the World at £ 85.3 Million and Neymar being brought in for a fee of around £ 48.6 Million, a lot of pressure was on these two youngsters to perform.

Bale with his speed, long rangers, prowess in free kicks and strong physique is more of a resemblance to the style played by Madrid's No.1 star Cristiano Ronaldo. Similarly, Neymar is more of a ball control, passing and trhough running player like Barcelona's start Lionel Messi.

Both players performed well for their respective clubs with Bale netting 22 goals in 44 appearances and Neymar scoring 15 in 41 apps.

The age old rivalry between these two Spanish Giants was taken to the next level when Ronaldo joined Real Madrid in 2009 as a direct counter to Messi in Barcelona. Now it remains to be seen that after these two greats, will Bale and Neymar rise to the occasion and show the continuation of this intense rivalry.
