1. Pep Guardiola:£14.8 million
Josep ‘Pep’ Guardiola is one of the youngest and the most successful manager in the World having led a giant club like FC Barcelona to a sextuple (six trophies) in his debut season as manager after replacing Frank Rijkaard in 2008. He is now practicing the trade at German champion club Bayern Munich where he led them to a disappointing first season as they got pummeled by Real Madrid in Champions League Semi-Finals.
2. Jose Mourinho: £8.37 million
The Portuguese is the most versatile of managers having won two Champions League trophies with two different clubs, which only five have done so far (Mourinho included), with FC Porto in 2003 and Inter Milan in 2010. He is known to be a shrewd tactician and also a mind-games specialist, where he uses several carefully crafted words to throw off his opponents which has worked brilliantly in his favor.
3. Marcello Lippi: £8.34 million
The Italian World Cup winning manager is currently employed with Chinese League football side Guangzhou Evergrande. He won several trophies in Europe and in Asia and is the only manager in the World to win prestigious continental club tournaments in two different tournaments. UEFA Champions League with Juventus in 1996 and AFC Champions League with Guangzhou Evergrande in 2013.
4. Louis van Gaal: £7 million
The newly appointed manager for Premier League club Manchester United comes fourth on the list. He led his national team Netherlands to the semi-finals of the recently concluded World Cup when nobody even expected them to. He has won Champions League with Dutch club Ajax in 1995 and led Bayern Munich to finals in the 2009-10 edition where he eventually lost to his former pupil Jose Mourinho’s Inter Milan.
5. Carlo Ancelotti: £6.26 million
The Italian recently led Real Madrid to a double as they won Copa Del Rey and the UEFA Champions League in spectacular fashion beating Barcelona and Atletico Madrid in respective finals. With that he became the fifth manager to win Champions League with two different European clubs. He looks to do so in the upcoming season as he has already splashed heavy cash on players.
