Nicklas Bendtner can be named as a pensioner at the club as the Danish striker nine seasons as a Arsenal player. But the striker has accused Arsenal and coach Arsene Wenger for wasting his final year at the club as the Gunners failed to secure a striker, with Wenger forcing Bendtner to stay a year more. Bendtner finally left the London side as a free agent and joined the German club Wolfsburg this summer.
The controversial striker spent long spells away from the club either on loan or because of his behavioral issues. Bendtner managed to score only 24 goals in his 106 appearance for the Gunners.
Speaking to German tabloid Bild, Bendtner said:
"I played regularly for Juventus until I got injured. At Arsenal I barely played. My last year was wasted there.
"[The previous year] I was loaned to Juve. It went well there. I played regularly, and I was fit. Then I got injured and had to miss the next six months.
"We were champions, I wanted to stay. But Arsenal took me back. I wasted a year there. That annoys me the most."
Bendtner on his move to Wolfsburg:
"Wolfsburg is obviously different, but it’s not bad here," added Bendtner.
"And if I want a larger city, one is by train in an hour in Berlin. There I have many friends.
"I miss my son. If I have a day off, I will always try to travel to London to spend time with him. London is my city, I lived there since I was 16."
