Pre-Game Belgium vs Argentina

This fixture will be a highly interesting one as both the teams have somewhat disappointed with their performances, not taking into consideration the USA vs Belgium game. The two teams have a lot to offer as they possess some of the most exciting talents in the World. Argentina has reached the Quarter Final stage 4 times in the past five editions and has failed to get past that. While the Belgians are only in their second quarter final since 1986. Belgium has a chance to avenge Argentina for their defeat in the Semi-Finals of the 1986 World which they went on to win. This will be a battle against experience and young talent as Sabella’s side has the former and Wilmots’ side, the latter.

Top Players to look out for:

Lionel Messi, of course has been the only man worthy of mention for the Argentinians as he has been the savior for his country on all the occasions right from the beginning of the tournament till now. He has had a direct role to play in all the games. So it’s obvious that a lot is expected on him. For the Belgians, Eden Hazard has been phenomenal, his abilities will the ball has helped his team into this crucial tie and he has a major responsibility to fulfill. Romelu Lukaku shook off his bad start to save his country from the brink against USA and might likely star for his team today. A lot will be running on him too.

Teams head-to-head:

The two teams have played four games with Argentina winning 3 and Belgium 1.

Probable line-ups:

Argentina (4-3-1-2): Romero; P Zabaleta, F Fernández, E Garay, Basanta; Gago, J Mascherano, Di Maria; L Messi; E Lavezzi, G Higuaín.

Belgium (4-3-3): Courtois; T Alderweireld, D Van Buyten, V Kompany, J Vertonghen; A Witzel, K De Bruyne, M Fellaini; D Mertens, R Lukaku, E Hazard.

Prediction: Belgium has the talent to make it through but they are facing the tournament favorites Argentina. This would be an edge of the seat thriller. Personally, I vouch for a Belgium win as Argentina have not lived up to their expectations despite their victories.

Final Score Prediction: Argentina 0 – 2 Belgium.
