#BELvsUSA

The final game of the Last 16 is upon us as a tactical Marc Wilmots side faces Jurgen Klinsmann’s USA. Belgium were considered the dark horses before the tournament, although they haven’t been convincing on the “Why” of it they were able to squeak past the group stage with 3 victories in 3 games. USA, meanwhile, were not expected to progress from the Group of Death as it contained Portugal and Ghana, but surprisingly they did just enough to get through with Germany. Marc Wilmost’s Belgian side is plagued with injury and suspension concerns as the likes of Captain Vincent Kompany, Arsenal centre-back Thomas Vermalaen along with fellow defenders Laurent Ciman, Anthony Vanden Borre and midfielder Steven Defour might likely miss the game while the USA has no such concerns.

Top players to look out for:

Much will be expected from the Chelsea superstar Eden Hazard who has already won 2 MOM in three games. He will spearhead his country’s attack with Lukaku upfront, De Bruyne and Mertens on the wings. He will draw upon his experience in the premier League to push his country through to the next round. Lukaku has been disappointing so far, it remains to be seen whether he can push forward better and get some attempt on goal. Kevin Mirallas, the super sub has done well to infuse pace into the side in the previous games; he will do the same again and will wear out the US defense. Captain Clint Dempsey will be key to USA’s scoring chances.

Teams head-to-head:

The two teams have faced five times with Belgium winning 4 of them and USA only one.

Probable line-ups:

Belgium (4-2-3-1):  Courtois; Alderweireld, Kompany, Van Buyten, Vermaelen; Witsel, Fellaini; Mertens, E Hazard, De Bruyne; Lukaku.

USA (4-1-4-1): Howard; Gonzalez, Johnson, Besler, Beasley; Beckerman; Zusi, Bradley, Jones, Davis; Dempsey.

Prediction: The Belgium side is gifted while the US side is stubborn and won’t admit defeat. It will be an amazing end to the pre-quarters. Belgium have a slight edge this time and will get through to the next round.

Final Score Prediction: Belgium 3 – 1 USA.
