State Association Development Project, was executed by Goa Football Association

Goa Football Association was recently assigned the task of overseeing an assessment visit which was a part of the State Association Development Project, was well executed by the GFA. FIFA officials Shaji Prabhekaran(FIFA DO) and Vincent Subramaniam were part of the assessment team from FIFA whereas; Scott O'Donell(Teahnical Director, AIFF), Sunando Dhar(CEO I-League) were part of the assessment team of the AIFF (All India Football Federation). The assessment took place over a span of three days and multiple meetings were held in order to perform the assessment, with most of them being held at the State FA office.

The first day began with the four officials meeting with the State Association President & Executive Committee at 10AM for which the Executive committee of the Goa Football association was invited.

Next came the scheduled meet with the State Govt Sports Ministry/Sports Department/Edu Ministry officials/Local Olympic Association, for which Mathew Samuel, Secretary Sports , Sandip Jacques, ED – SAG , V. M. Prabhudessai, Director, DSYA, Gurudatta Bhakta, IOA were all invited. It took place at the State FA office between 2 PM to 4PM. At the end of the day, as per the schedule, the officials had visited the Local Training Centres (Grassroots/Youth) between 4PM to 6PM.

The second day’s proposed plans began at 10 where a meeting with the ex-players was held at the State Football Association office. Samir Naik, Brahmanand Shankhwalkar, Mahesh Gawli, Robert Fernandes, Bruno Coutinho and Sanjiv Nagvenkar had all been invited for this purpose having met the criteria of previously playing in international competitions as well as national competitions.

As the day progressed, the scheduled 11:45 AM meeting with the coaches took place at the State FA office. Coaches Savio Madeira, Armando Colaco, Maymol Rocky, Derrick Pereira, Melwyn Rodrigues, Gavin Araujo, Mauricio Afonso, Agostinho Antao, Alex Alvares, Cajetan Fernandes, Mariano Dias, Mathew Costa (Sporting), Marcus Pacheco, Deryl D'Souza were all invited for the meeting.

A Meeting with top division clubs representative of State was scheduled later on at 2 in the afternoon, scheduled to be held at the same venue, i.e. State FA office. All Pro League Clubs along with ISL side FC Goa were asked to be there for the same.

As a part of their itinerary, a scheduled Visit to State League Match/Infrastructure was planned to be made at the end of the second day, from 5PM to 6PM. The AIFF representative and the FIFA representatives thus made a visit to the Duler Stadium which is in Mapusa.

The third day began at the State FA office where a meeting with the School & District FA Representatives took place. The officials met the schools who are promoting the sport as well as participating actively in its development; that went on from 10 AM till 11:30 AM.

Next, came the Meeting with Referees Committee & Women's Football as per the officials itinerary, the gathering which began at nooninvolved the Committee Referees and Women Sub-Committees of Goa Football Association, went on till 1:30.

A meeting with the Representative of Local Media Print / Electronic was to take place next, involving the Local media representatives, was allotted an hour and a half starting 2:30.

The three day visit concluded with the official’s scheduled Meeting planned for 2 hours, beginning at 4:30, with President and Secretary State FA in which the findings, final review meeting as well as the conclusion of assessment visit, took place at the State FA office.
