Anzhi Makhachkala youth player shot dead!

Gasan Magomedov, a 20-year-old footballer for Russian club Anzhi Makhachkala, has been shot and killed near his home in the war-ravaged Russian region of Dagestan.

No arrests have been made and the motive is still unclear.

In a statement, Anzhi said Magomedov had been driving near his home on Saturday night when his car was hit with machine-gun fire. He died from his wounds while being transported to hospital.

The Russian region of Dagestan, where the attack took place, has a long-running Islamist insurgency.

Russia will host the 2018 World Cup.

We at TFM condemn this tragic incident.
