Atletico Kolkata win their first game in 4th game as they stretch their lead at the top by four points with a 1-0 win over Eastern rivals NorthEast United.

NorthEast played well but never did they threatened to upset the hosts’ applecart. Tabas’ boys were very well organised in defence and in midfield. Along Fikru up front, they caused enough troubles for the young NorthEast side.

Kolkata dominated the game for large parts of the game and this domination paid off with a rare header from Luis Garcia, who made a box to box run to finish a Jofre cross. This goal encouraged NorthEast tried venture forward but with their raw pace and youthful exuberance once again failed to get a breakthrough against the derby rivals.

Kolkata proved once again why they are the most feared side in the league and are billed title favorites as they looked sublime throughout the 90 minutes. Their lack of goals should not be taken for the tightness of the game.
