Begovic signs for Chelsea
Chelsea FC have signed goalkeeper Asmir Begovic from Stoke City . The Bosnian has signed a four-year contract with the EPL side.
“I am very happy to be joining Chelsea FC," he told the club's official website. "After speaking at length to the manager, I feel like I can develop here and be an important part of this team.”
The goalkeeper has previously played for Portsmouth from 2005-10 and Stoke city from 2010-15.
"I am looking forward to meeting up with the team on Wednesday for the pre-season tour." He added. "I have loved my time at Stoke, but I feel I had to take this opportunity for me to continue to develop and challenge myself as a player. “
He has won numerous individual awards at Stoke City including the Stoke City Player of the Year in 2013.
"I am very proud of what we have achieved during my time at Stoke and it has been a great team of players to work with. I wish you all the best for the season ahead." He further said.
He was also voted as Stoke City Players' Player of The Year: 2013 & 2014. He won the Stoke City Supporters' Club Player of the Year in 2014 as well.
"I would like to say thank you to everyone at Stoke football club, the chairman and Coates family, Mark Hughes and Tony Pulis, goalkeeper coach Andy Quy, all my team-mates and especially the fans who have made me and my family so welcome," he wrote on Twitter.
The Goalkeeper also won the Bosnian Footballer of the year award in 2013. Chelsea have found Petr Cech’s replacement in Begovic and the 28 year old will be joining the squad for their pre season tour on Wednesday.
