In the past former Argentine stars have returned home in the twilight of their careers, but that it not the case for Tevez who in the past decade has played for Manchester City, Manchester United and Juventus.

"There's no better day than this one," Tevez said. "This is my home from start to finish. I'm in top condition physically as well as mentally."

40,000 Argentine fans filled La Bombonera last night to welcome back the former Manchester United and Manchester City striker.

Fellow Boca Juniors legend Diego Maradona was in attendance and produced a banner of his own – “Thanks for coming back Carlitos“.

The financial details of the deal were revealed by Juventus which reported a fee of €6m paid by Boca Juniors for Tevez.
