Jose Mourinho’s Chelsea made the switch from the usual Metal Halide (MH) lamps to the LED lights manufactured by electrical giants Philips.
This acquisition is capable of emitting lights that can match that of daylights during the late night kick-offs. It will also improve the HD TV viewing experience of the club enthusiasts.
Philips officially said they have installed the lights to “provide players with the best possible experience”.
Chelsea FC chief executive Ron Gourlay spoke on this landmark move and said: “"Once again, Chelsea Football Club is at the forefront of innovation and we look forward to many more memorable games at Stamford Bridge under this new floodlighting system."
Eric Rondolat, Philips boss also spoke on the matter and said: “"Our LED pitch lighting meets the new stringent broadcast criteria of the English Premier League in helping to deliver high definition, flicker-free super-slow motion images and ensures that Chelsea delivers the best possible viewing experience to the 40,000 plus fans in the stadium as well as those at home."
Well, the former European Champions certainly upped the ante for other clubs in the World Football arena particularly the top notch clubs in Europe.
