FC Pune City got their maiden win of the season against fellow strugglers FC Goa at Balewadi Sports complex. Two late goals in each half gave the hosts a comfortable win over their western rivals.
The game was more or less in the balance for huge chunks of both the halves as neither side looked lethal initially. Goa got first decent chance of the game as Ranti Martins forced a save of Belardi in 4th minute.
Pune were the dominant of the two as they finally managed to break the deadlock through Greek midfielder Kastos Katsouranis as he smashed a spectacular from some distance. This gave the hosts required momentum entering into the half time.
Goa finally came into their own in second half as Andre Santos missed two golden opportunities twice striking the post. Pires was sorely missed by the Goans as they looked clueless in the middle of the park.
FC Pune struck once again late in the half as David Trezeguet joined the party as he pounced on the horrendous back pass by Arnolin to his goalkeeper. The Frenchman thumped the ball into the net and secured all three points for the hosts.
