Everton striker Samuel Eto’o has inched closer to his return to Serie A as Sampdoria have all but sealed the deal to sign the striker. There were a bit of dilly dallies but it seems that move will finally go through.
It was reported earlier in the week that Eto'o had already agreed an 18-month contract with the Serie A side, accepting a 40 per cent pay cut, but the deal stalled with Sampdoria complaining about a lack of clarity in their dealings with Everton.
There was a bit of drama from both the sides as they were playing cloak and dagger but both the parties have now come out with very clear cut statements.
The 33-year-old passed a medical on Sunday, posting a picture on Twitter with the message: "Successful medical. Ready for a new challenge!!!"
Eto’o has been bought on as a replacement to Sampdoria’s top scorer Manolo Gabbiadini, who was sold to Napoli earlier this month. Samps are currently fourth in the table as they are tied on points with third placed Napoli.
