FA has charged both Johnny Evans and Papiss Cisse for spitting row which took place in Manchester United’s 1-0 win over Newcastle at SportsDirect Arena. FA has charged both the players with a six game ban.
The row involved Evans spitting on Papiss Cisse’s face and the Newcastle man retaliated with the similar gesture. Things weren’t taken lightly by FA and swiftly charged both the players with the hefty bans. The new guidelines of FA in regard to spitting have increased the length of ban from three games to six.
Both the managers have refrained to comment on the incident and have played safe especially Louis van Gaal has defended his man.
"I can't comment on it," said Carver, whose side were beaten 1-0. "I just know there was a fracas on the halfway line."
Van Gaal said: "I don't think Jonny Evans is a spitter. Maybe spitting on the floor, but we were on the bench and you cannot see from there."
Clearly no manager is going to take this ban unchallenged. FA hs given time to both the clubs to challenge the ban till Friday 18.00 GMT.
