Man Utd’s Ander Herrera and Zargoza’s Aguirre named in Spanish match-fixing scandal

Former Real Zaragoza player Ander Herrera and coach Aguirre are named as witnesses in the La Liga fixing scandal. Along with them, there are 41 other players named in the list.

Herrera was at Zaragoza in 2011 and Aguirre was their coach in that season. The former Athetic player has come clean and set the record straight with his statement.

"I have never had and will never have anything to do with manipulating match results," Herrera wrote on his Facebook account.

"If I am ever called to testify in any judicial hearing, I'll be happy to attend, as my conscience is clear."

The match between Betis and Zaragoza in 2011 season is under the scanner as there are reports that the match was fixed between the sides which Zaragoza won to avoid relegation on the last day of the season.
