This was the game last season which killed Liverpool’s title hopes of first league title in over 20 years. This is the exact game which cruelly dashed Chelsea’s Champions League dream in 2005 via a ghost goal. Yes! This is Liverpool vs Chelsea where dreams are broken rather than made.
We are having a look at three key men who could possibly play a key role and shift the balance of the game in their favor.
Cesc Fabregas
The Spanish playmaker has changed the way Chelsea play this season. He has had that dynamism which was sorely missed by the Blues last season. He has provided 9 assists in 10 games which state his importance in the side. It is evident from the tie at Old Trafford, to stop Chelsea from dominating you have to stop Cesc Fabregas.
Raheem Sterling
He may be tired and also be benched in Champions League game in Santiago Bernabeu but he is by far Liverpool’s best player. The Reds are over dependent on a 19 year old thanks to a misfiring attack line up and absence of Daniel Sturridge. If he gets a whiff of opportunity he could easily punish the table toppers.
Branislav Ivanovic
He and Liverpool go a long way back. The Serbian has always had a strong liking for the Kop. Be it his wonder goal or his tight defending that frustrated Luis Suarez which eventually made him chew some flesh of him. He will be a key cog in the wheel both while defending as well as going forward.
