Jose Mourinho’s boys continued their unbeaten run in the Premier League as they outclass Liverpool at Anfield. Diego Costa fired the winner as Liverpool’s struggles continued to mount.
Reds started the game brightly as they took a surprise lead through a Emre Can thunderbolt in the first 10 minutes. But that goal backfired for Liverpool as it spurred on Chelsea and they came back with all guns blazing.
Chelsea equalized within minutes via a Cesc Fabregas corner which went in through Gary Cahill via Diego Costa as goal-line technology came to the rescue. From then on, it was all Chelsea in the game as Liverpool simply didn’t know what was hitting them.
Soon in the second half Chelsea proceeded from where they left off. And their domination paid off as Diego Costa thundered a ferocious shot from 10 yards and sealed the tie for the visitors. Brendan Rodgers tactical naivety cost the hosts the match as Jose Mourinho simply outwitted in that area.
Chelsea stretched their lead to 12 points over defending champions Manchester City who drew with QPR later in the day.
