Louis van Gaal’s Manchester United is reportedly readying a £16 million for Sporting Lisbon defender Marcos Rojo.

The Argentinian is said to be keen on making the move to England and has pleaded with the Portuguese club to let him go.

He has also refused to train with his team-mates to force the transfer into happening. He is capable of playing in left and centre-back roles which would suit the Old Trafford club’s requirement.

The player is just 24-year-old which means that if he is signed he could be a long term replacement in the United defensive setup.

Rojo had also featured as a regular in Alejandro Sabella’s World Cup Finals where he proved that he can thrive in the defensive role and keep attackers at bay.
