Mario Balotelli charged by FA over anti Semitic and racist remarks

Liverpool striker Mario Balotelli has been charged by FA for making anti-Semitic and racist posts on Instagram. As reported earlier by TFM, the wily Italian posted a pic of Super Mario and made racist comments.

The FA found no reason to let him get off the hook and announced in an official statement that the 24 year old will have to face the punishment. The statement read as follows,

“It is alleged the Liverpool player breached FA Rule E3[1] in that his posting was abusive and/or insulting and/or improper.

It is further alleged that this is an ‘Aggravated Breach’ as defined by FA Rule E3[2] as it included a reference to ethnic origin and/or color and/or race and/or nationality and/or religion or belief.

The player has until 6pm on 15 December 2014 to respond to the charge.”

This means he will have to face anything from a hefty fine to a ban of 5 games. The punishment is quite similar to the punishments meted out Nicolas Anelka and Rio Ferdinand.
