Vaz shines for Star of Canara


Mumbai: Star of Canara SC worked hard to snatch a close 2-1 win against a determined Mogaveera SC in a keenly fought league match of the 19th Late Ramanath Payyade Memorial Football Tournament, organised by KSA (Karnatak Sporting Association) and played at the KSA ground, Cross Maidan, Churchgate.


Seasoned striker Melwyn Vaz shone the brightest scoring both the goals which ensured Star of Canara complete the win. Kunder Ronaldrevel pulled one back for Mogaveera.


In another match, Mangalore Blues SC and Satya Vijaya SC shared two goals and two points as they played out a 1-1 draw. Melroy Aranha was on target for Mangalore Blues and Shreenath Suvarna scored for Satya Vijaya.


Results:Mangalore Blues SC 1 (Melroy Aranha) drew with Satya Vijaya SC 1 (Shreenath Suvarna).


Star of Canara SC 2 (Melwyn Vaz 2) beat Mogaveera SC 1 (Kunder Ronaldrevel).
