Central Railway down Customs 1-0


Mumbai, March 25: Central Railway recorded a hard-fought 1-0 win against a prodigal Mumbai Customs in an Elite Division encounter of the MDFA (Mumbai District Football Association) League – 2014-15, played at the Cooperage ground, on Wednesday morning.


The railwaymen who were at the receiving end for most of the match managed to snatch the lead against the run of play when midfielder Shafique P. with a snap effort bulged the net in the 31st minute.


Customs created a series of chances but were let down by some poor finishing by their strikers and were forced to end up on the losing side.


Later in the evening ONGC (Oil & Natural Gas Corporation) defeated G.M. Sports by an identical 1-0 margin with striker Lavino Fernandes firing home the lone goal in the very sixth minute.


Result, Elite Division: Central Railway (Shafique P 31st ) beat Mumbai Customs 0.

Successful day for Mumbai FC teams


Mumbai, March 25: Mumbai FC had a great successful day as both their Under-19 and Under-17 teams won their respective matches in the MDFA (Mumbai District Football Association) League – 2014-15, played at the St. Xavier’s ground, Parel on Wednesday.


The Mumbai FC Under-19 outfit showed great character to pull off a narrow 1-0 win against Sellebrity FC in a keenly contested Super Division encounter. Rakesh Karmarkar scored the lone goal for the winners.


Earlier in the day, Mumbai FC Under-17 proved too good for BPCL Refineries by coasting to a facile 5-0 victory in a Third Division match. Kishen Dubey struck a brace while Mayur Surve, Abhishek Agarwal and Ronak Solanki chipped in with a goal each to complete the win.


Results – Super Div (play-off): Mumbai FC Under-19 1 (Rakesh Karmarkar 55th) beat Sellebrity FC 0.


Div-II: St. Joseph’s SC 4 (Nico Gonsalves 2, Bradely D’Souza, Reynold Murzello) beat G.K.W. Rangers 0.


Div-III: Young Boys 1 (Yasar Ansari) beat Galaticos SC 0.

Mumbai FC Under-17 5 (Kishen Dubey 2, Mayur Surve, Abhishek Agarwal, Ronak Solankai) beat BPCL Refineries 0.
