AC Milan Players Confined To Training Ground After A Shameful Defeat
AC Milan's players have been ordered to attend an indefinite training camp by furious coach Filippo Inzaghi following their dismal performance in
This is what the players and the coach had to say following Saturday's Round 32 Serie A fixture away at Udinese:
FILIPPO INZAGHI (to the Milan Channel)
"We deserved to lose and Udinese played well. We're very disappointed and we are sorry for our performance. It's a shame, because despite the ups and downs, this side had never previously taken to the pitch with the wrong attitude. It cannot happen again and I am sure that it won't happen on Wednesday, otherwise it would be worrying. Tonight we will stay at Milanello."
GIAMPAOLO PAZZINI
"I had a feeling I would start. I prepared the match as if it were a final. Regardless of my goal, we did not play well and I am very sorry about this. I believed we could complete the come-back. They were tired. It's enough to try. It was an important match today and we got it wrong. On Wednesday it will be very hard and it is a very big match. There is a lot of disappointment today, but we need to bounce back as ofWednesday."
FILIPPO INZAGHI (press conference)
"The squad up until today has always given its all, but the attitude today was wrong and so was the way we approached the match. The important thing is to now reflect well tonight at Milanello and give a good performance on Wednesday (against Genoa, editor's note). We deserved to lose. I've been saying as of Monday that if we didn't play with the right mentality then we risked giving this account of ourselves. There are very few excuses and the only thing to do now is to roll up our sleeves and do well in the last 6 matches, because we're Milan and our dignity is involved. Tonight we will stay at Milanello, tomorrow morning we will have training and then together with the club we will take a decision (over a training retreat, editor's note). I have an idea and I will share it with the club. When you hit the bottom like today you need to reflect. It isn't a retreat of one or two days that changes things. If the attitude is wrong and you are not focused out on the pitch, it is hard to get back into a match. With the attitude showed today we would have lost to whoever. We were absent today. Compliments to Stramaccioni's Udinese."
