Crystal Palace’s new gaffer has made it clear that Palace need a couple of signings in order to survive in Premier League.
"It's a little bit sticky at the moment but we need to find a route out of that," Pardew said.
"I think we're going to need a player or two at least and that's what we're going to try to do."
He also defended his decision to leave Newcastle for Palace.
"It's difficult because I'm leaving a big club in Newcastle, but it was a choice which I felt was right for myself and my family and my career," Pardew told Palace's website.
Pardew himself isn’t new to Palace as he was a fan favourite in his playing days for the club from 1987-1991, where he famously scored the winner in FA Cup semis against Liverpool.
"Fans love you when you've done something good for the club, and they remember that era that I was in fondly," he added.
"They admire the spirit of that era and I think they'd like to see more of that, and hopefully I can bring that back.
"Every time I came back here it was always a lovely welcome and a nice feeling. I knew at some point I would have worked for this because really and truly my home is in this area."
