Poland stunned world champions Germany 2-0 in Warsaw as they threw their Euro 2016 qualifying group wide open.
Germany dominated throughout the 90 minutes but still were not able to get past a stubborn Polish defense. It was a fairly dull first half no side got any real chances.
Ajax youngster Arkadiusz Milik gave the hosts a shock lead in second half as headed the ball home with the help of a Lukasz Piszczek cross and Manuel Neuer’s erroneous judgement.
The goal got Germany vigorously searching for an equaliser only to be denied by some fine keeping from Wojeiech Szczesny.
Lukas Podolski struck a thunderous volley from 12 yards out but unfortunately he struck the crossbar. Germany’s hunt for the leveller left them open at back.
A superb counter from Poland led by Robert Lewandowski led to their second and winning goal via substitute Sebastian Mila in 88th minute.
Some wayward finishing and superb goalkeeping gave Poland a historical victory over their neighbours and world champions Germany.
