Real Madrid vs Atletico Madrid Match Report

Atletico Madrid continue to irritate their illustrious city rivals Real as they win 1-2 in the Madrid derby at the Santiago Bernabeu. This is their second win over the Los Blancos in just under a month.

The match lived up to its bill as it was a humdinger throughout the 90 minutes. Atletico took the lead through a wonderful set piece as veteran Tiago headed home in under 10 minutes. It was all Atletico for the first 20 minutes as they continued to trump the Galacticos.

As the match wore on, Real found their feet in the game. They found their composure on ball and fluidity while going forward. But the La Liga champions stood firm until talisman Cristiano Ronaldo drew them level via a penalty which he himself had earned.

The second half was a different story altogether. Atletico started to hold the game. The game turned on its head when Diego Simeone made those masterful substitutions in Antoine Griezmann. Both the wingers brought pace back in Atletico.

It paid off and how! A beautiful move involving Juanfran, Griezmann and Turan. A superb combination of play between Juanfran and Griezmann along with a superb finish by Turan gave Atletico both the lead and match with 15 minutes to spare.

Once again Atletico pipped their superstar city rivals. Gone are the days when it was all about Real Madrid. Its Atletico's time now.
